Event a week after cyclone Nisarga hit Raigad district, more than 3 lakh people are still without electricity. According to Nidhi Chaudhari, District Collector of Raigad due to shortage of manpower, the repairing work for electricity supply has not been done; however, the telecommunication services have been re-established.
Meanwhile, political leaders from different political parties are taking the stock of the situations in the district. Sharad Pawar, NCP chief has already visited the affected areas along with the guardian minister Aditi Tatkare and district collector Nidhi Chaudhari. Pawar has expressed his views on the relief packages announced in the district. He has assured local people of more support from government.
earlier, on 5th Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray had visited the cyclone affected areas in the district and had announced Rs 100 crore for Raigad district; however, according to the district collector, the loss is not below 250 crores.
The district administration has been able to clear all the roads well on time and the National Disaster Response Force teams have already been withdrawn.
